Bond Commission Poised To Approve Over $1 Billion In Borrowing

ctnewsjunkie photo HARTFORD, CT — One of the consequences of not having a budget for four months was an inability to put anything on the state’s credit card. Now that the state has a budget, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is proposing $1.07 billion in bonding to be approved at a special meeting next week.

Democrats Seek To Hold Connecticut Republicans Accountable For Congressional Tax Proposals

Christine Stuart / ctnewsjunkie HARTFORD, CT — Connecticut’s Senate Democratic leadership wants Connecticut Republicans who don’t speak up about their party’s tax reform plans in Washington to be held accountable, if the “punitive” tax changes end up becoming law.

At a Legislative Office Building press conference, Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff, D-Norwalk, said Connecticut Republicans might not have a vote on the issue, but “it comes down to whether or not they support the Trump tax cuts and are they using their bully pulpit like we’re using our bully pulpit to sound the alarm on what this will do to our state.”

He said they want to make sure Connecticut voters are talking about what the tax changes would mean for a majority of the state’s middle class.

Red Ink Could Trigger Deficit Mitigation

More Americans, New Englanders Say They’re Traveling For Thanksgiving

AAA expects the 2017 holiday weekend to see the highest Thanksgiving travel volume since 2005, with 2.25 million New Englanders set to get away — an increase of 3.5 percent over last year.
