On Tuesday about 2,000 state managers are set to receive a 3 percent pay raise.

State government agencies were notified Friday that several groups of state managers will receive a salary hike July 1. Starting in January these same managers will also receive an increase in pay based on the state’s Performance Assessment and Recognition System.

The average performance-based raise is expected to be around 3 percent.

The funding for these salary increases was included in the new state budget that takes effect on July 1. They are expected to cost the state about $10 million.

The increases affect approximately 2,000 employees, in several classes of state managers. There will be no increases for senior gubernatorial appointees, such as agency heads, their deputies, senior members of the governor’s staff, or elected officials.

“Connecticut’s state managers did not get raises for five straight years, helping our state address its budget problems,” Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s Budget Director Ben Barnes said Friday. “During that time they, like other citizens, paid taxes, bought groceries, and paid college tuition. It is only fair that they receive increases similar to those being received by the people who work under them. They are hard-working public servants who deserve recognition for their efforts.”

This is the second consecutive year in which the increases have been granted.

People of Connecticut, it is not just Managers that got a 3% increase. ALL State employees got a 3% increase.  However, our retirement healthcare contribution has gone from .5% to 2%, so its not really a 3% increase.
