FRONT ROW CT | Popstars And Top Comics Highlight Connecticut’s Fall Lineup
Popstar Katy Perry returns to life on the road with her Witness tour, which makes a stop at Mohegan Sun Arena September 21.
The “Chained to the Rhythm” singer was originally slated to appear in Uncasville two week’s into the tour’s schedule, but due to unforeseen production delays, the start date was pushed back to September 19, making Connecticut her second stop on the road after kicking things off in Montreal.
Perry has become synonymous for onstage theatrics and head-turning performances, setting up her latest U.S. trek as a high-energy show full of magnificent visuals.
Supporting Perry on tour is Miley Cyrus’ younger sister and talented newcomer Noah Cyrus. The show starts at 7 p.m.
UConn Football Campaign Continues
After a few weeks on the road, the UConn football returns home for an October 6 matchup against the Memphis Tigers. The Friday night game marks the first time the Huskies will play on the familiar turf of Rentschler Field since their season opener August 31, as their September 9 home game against the University of South Florida was canceled in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
The Huskies are back in action at home on Saturday, October 21 in what promises to be an exciting conference battle against Tulsa. Be sure to grab a seat and cheer them on!
Tracy Morgan and Jay Leno
Since ending his tenure as the Tonight Show host in 2014, Leno has amped up his time on the road performing stand up, finding his way to Hartford among a cross-country trek this fall.
For over 25 years, Morgan has been one of the most accomplished comedians and actors in the business, making appearances in dozens of movies and TV shows, most notably Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock.
All his upcoming shows are along the east coast, but for those who miss his October stint at the Ridgefield Playhouse, Morgan will return to CT once again November 18 as a headliner at Foxwoods’ Fox Theatre.
Mariah Carey Makes Special Stop At Foxwoods
Music’s most notorious diva Mariah Carey headlines Foxwoods’ Grand Theater on October 14.
The one-night-only engagement is a treat for local fans, as it is Carey’s only scheduled gig before December, when she’ll put on a five-date holiday residency at Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas. Carey recently wrapped up her summer co-headlining All the Hits tour with Lionel Richie, though the duo never made a stop in Connecticut. Despite her polarizing reputation, Carey’s countless records and place as one of the best vocalists in music history make her shows a hit.
Tickets for her Foxwoods gig are selling fast, so don’t miss out. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Terry Fator Brings Acclaimed Vegas Show to Foxwoods
America’s Got Talent winner Terry Fator takes a break from his long-running Las Vegas residency show to entertain fans at the Grand Theater at Foxwoods October 20.
The multi-talented ventriloquist combines singing with impressionist comedy in his show, which has been a Vegas mainstay since he won the second season of the talent show in 2007. Fator uses more than a dozen puppets to showcase a wide array of voice impressions, from Elvis Presley to Michael Jackson and even Donald Trump.
This light-hearted show is perfect for audiences of all ages, and will definitely be a packed house. The show starts promptly at 8 p.m.
