Connecticut resident Ralph Nader who faced stiff opposition from the Democratic Party when he announced he would run for the presidency as an Independent candidate in 2004 won a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision regarding the campaign.

Earlier this week the court found that Nader’s presidential campaign was burdened by Arizona’s election laws, which require circulators of nomination petitions to be residents of Arizona.

The Appeals court overturned the district courts decision. “We conclude that the burdens are serious and the restrictions are not sufficiently narrowly tailored to serve the state’s compelling interests,” the court found in its decision.

Nader is running for president again this November.
