Food Labeling Draws Crowd & Some Star Power

Jerry Greenfield, the “Jerry” in Ben & Jerry’s, hosted an ice cream social at the State Capitol on Friday, but he wasn’t just there to promote his product. Greenfield was here to support a bill that requires foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to be labeled as such.

Retiring Lawmaker Invites Lawsuit Over GMOs

Earlier this year, a bipartisan bill that would have required a label on foods that contain genetically modified organisms was tabled for fear it would provoke a lawsuit. At a Wednesday rally, the bill’s proponent, retiring Rep. Richard Roy, said “Let them sue us.”
