Bysiewicz’s ‘Thank You’ Parties Unprecedented, But No Fine Imposed By SEEC

The State Elections Enforcement Commission decided Wednesday that Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz’s spending of about $45,800 on ‘Thank You’ parties after the state Supreme Court found her to be ineligible to run for Attorney General, was unprecedented. But it was unclear if that spending violated any campaign laws.

If the events in Washington this week proved anything to Progressives, they proved that Barack Obama meant it when he said WE (not him) were the change we’d been waiting for. I was among those who never truly believed – but I did hope – that the new President could change at least the tone if not the substance of how the Federal government goes about its business.

On Jan. 3, 2011, the control of the gavel in the U.S. House of Representatives will change from Democratic to Republican hands as Speaker-designate John Boehner takes over from Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the wake of the historic November 2010 elections. Though it seems practically commonplace after the past six years, such transfers are actually quite rare. In the last 100 years, control has changed only seven times.

Healy Won’t Seek RNC Chairmanship

Bysiewicz Certifies ‘Historically Close’ Election

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz certified the results of the 2010 midterm elections Wednesday morning including the results of the Governor’s race, which went to Democrat Dan Malloy by a plurality of 6,404 votes, making it the closest election for the position since 1954.
