Four GOP Candidates Make The Cut, A Fifth Misses By Minutes

There were no surprises Friday morning when Secretary of the State Denise Merrill and Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr., announced the names of the four Republican presidential candidates who will appear on Connecticut’s April 24 primary ballot. A fifth candidate submitted his request about 40 minutes after the deadline.

Fate of National Popular Vote Bill Uncertain

In five minutes Monday, the Government Administration and Elections Committee voted to raise 35 concepts this session. A bill to join the National Popular Vote Compact was not among them.

SEEC Hires Hamden Attorney As Executive Director

After reversing its initial decision to hire former Middletown Mayor Sebastian Giuliano, the State Elections Enforcement Commission re-interviewed the finalists and voted unanimously Friday to hire an attorney from Hamden as its new executive director.

Wesleyan Student Files SEEC Complaint On Eve of Appointment

A Wesleyan student filed a complaint with the State Elections Enforcement Commission Tuesday alleging that former Middletown Mayor Sebastian Giuliano ran a campaign that “tried to deter Wesleyan students from the polls.”
