Manchester Company Wins ‘Exporter of the Year’ Award

A Manchester manufacturer pushed itself out of its comfort zone and started exploring opportunities in other countries, which netted it both success and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s “Exporter of the Year” award.

Survey Says Hartford is Drivable

Fifty-seven percent of respondents said it’s “very drivable” while 37 percent said it’s “somewhat drivable,” and five percent said it’s “not too drivable.” Click here to read the survey results.

No matter how much you may know about women’s suffrage, you don’t want to miss a small exhibit marking the 90th anniversary of this milestone in American history and the role Connecticut played in it. The documents, photographs and other objects on display at the Connecticut Historical Society through March remind us that this was a struggle, spanning 50 years, waged by real women (and a few men).

The Buck Starts At State Auctions; Next Event Set for Saturday at 9:30

Motorcycles, dining chairs, stacks of liquor by the case, electronics, machinery, racks of bicycles, and even a Pegasus painting are just some of the merchandise available at the Connecticut State Surplus auction Saturday.

Report Details Nightmare on the Tarmac

Bad weather, mechanical problems, U.S. Customs rules, and communication failures all contributed to a more than four-hour delay between the landing of a Virgin Atlantic flight diverted to Bradley International airport to the deplaning of 300 passengers.

‘The Butt Ugly Building’ May Come Down

The City of Hartford has provided the owner of the H.B. Davis Building - aka The Butt Ugly Building - with a deadline to avoid eminent domain proceedings. If the deadline passes without a signature, city officials say they plan to take ownership and raze the structure, which is visible from both I-84 and I-91.
“This is a critically important project,” Mayor Pedro Segarra said. “This is an economic development priority for a number of reasons. This is prime real estate that connects our Downtown with our neighborhoods.”
