For gadflies, watchdogs, and journalists in the Nutmeg State, the outlook for open access to government information just gets grimmer by the month. With few exceptions, lawmakers and other state officials are trying their best to make it harder for us to take a look at what they’re up to.

The Judiciary Committee forwarded a bill to the state Senate Friday that would give individuals the ability to bring a civil lawsuit against police officers who interfere with their ability to videotape or photograph officers on the job.

News Station Apologizes For Boob Footage

Wednesday was Women’s Day at the state Capitol. It was time for women to discuss public policy and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women. But that’s not exactly the message Fox 61 Connecticut conveyed during its morning broadcast, which had women’s groups calling for the removal of the story and an apology.
