Q-Poll: Voters Disapprove of Death Penalty Ban, But Back Minimum Wage Hike

It’s been a few weeks since lawmakers voted to abolish the death penalty, but a new Quinnipiac University poll shows voters still largely disapprove of the move at the same time they are evenly divided when given the choice between death and life in prison without parole.

Teachers Rally At Capitol; Still Unhappy With Malloy’s Plan

About 1,000 teachers from across the state were bused to the Capitol Tuesday to express their displeasure with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s education reform bill, which was modified in March by the legislature’s Education Committee.

Appropriations Committee Passes Education Bill Untouched

Budget Continues To Bleed Red Ink, Year End Deficit Likely

It doesn’t include the latest tax collections, but the Office of Policy and Management estimated Friday that the state will end the year with a $141.9 million deficit, about $80 million worse than projected last month.

$18.3M In Longevity Payments Go To State Employees
