Paul Tarbox, a U.S. Army veteran and clerk of the Select Committee on Veterans’ Affairs wrote an eloquent letter to President Obama after the president’s photo was taken next to the Arlington Cemetery grave of Tarbox’s friend, Joe Phaneuf.
Phaneuf was killed in Afghanistan a few days before Christmas in 2006 when his vehicle was hit by an IED. It was that letter that President Obama quoted yesterday in his Memorial Day Speech at Arlington Cemetery.
