Christine Stuart File Photo As all five Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate prepare for Monday’s debate at the University of Connecticut, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said one candidate, Lee Whitnum, shouldn’t be included in the debates at all.

Despite her comments during last Thursday’s WVIT-TV debate where she called U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy a pro-Israel “whore,” Whitnum will be included Monday’s debate sponsored by Fox 61 and The Courant.

Answering questions from reporters at the state Capitol, Malloy described Whitnum as “somebody who’s on the fringe of the fringe.”

“She has almost no support if any. She has not run a real campaign as measured by the other primary candidates performances,” he said. “... By any objective test, she shouldn’t be included and now she’s confirmed why she shouldn’t be included.”

Asked if it was too soon in the campaign season for candidates to be calling each other whores, Malloy joked that it was, “by at least 60 days.”

Lee Whitnum toned down her act, and as a result—it was a DULL DEBATE.

We need Lee to bring some action into the stagnant Democratic party.

I’m not sure if this is the kind of “action” we need. And I speak as someone whose mother had to report Whitnum to the police after late night (11:20pm) phone calls. This is not someone who behaves in a way that merits being considered for public office.

Sara: You appear to have opened “a can of worms!” Why did Lee Whitnum call your mother at 11:20 p.m.?  Was this reported to the police as a harassing call?  What was the disposition of the complaint?  I’m sure other readers are interested, also.

It was reported to the police as a harassing call. The report is on file in Stamford. Ms. Whitnum was called by a police office and told to stop calling my family. She had also been calling my ex-husband and my neighbor, trying to get my unlisted phone number. I have recordings of all her calls.

“Reasonable” - I don’t think we need to hear the details LOL; Whitnum’s been pretty transparent (unintentionally so, I think wink regarding her own personal “issues” and problems LOL.

Sarah: Sorry you have a problem with Lee Whitnum.  Have you determined why she is trying to reach you, so desperately?

OK I did a little more searching.

There’s no love lost here between Sara and Lee.

And the ‘resolution’ in 2008

Sarah went on to win an award from the Connecticut Jewish Ledger and named one of the Jewish Movers & Shakers for 2008 after her political firing.

Thanks GoatBoy. But just as a point of fact, her harassment of me took place in the last 12 months, even though I have tried to forget about her existence since the day she lost to Jim Himes in the primary in 2008. I was hired back by the GT/Advocate after Hearst took over. She started with the calls last August and the police complaint was filed on October 31st, 2011. So basically what we in Greenwich have known for years the rest of CT is just having the “joy” of learning.
