Former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy, a Democrat, said he will officially launch his candidacy for governor at noon on Wednesday. While Republican Larry DeNardis will officially launch his campaign at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Meanwhile, one of the Democrats exploring a run for governor announced she’s raised $105,000 since announcing her potential candidacy nine weeks ago.

Simsbury First Selectwoman Mary Glassman said in a press release that she has received contributions from 1,187 donors. Glassman also pointed out in the press release that in 2006 when she was running for lieutenant governor she received 57 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary, while Ned Lamont received 52 percent in his race for U.S. Senate and Malloy received 49 percent in the race for governor.

Glassman, Lamont, and Malloy are all gubernatorial candidates in 2010.

If we are to have ANY HOPE of turning around the ECONOMY of CT, *fiscal restraint,* BUDGET CUTS, and REDUCING the size of state government are required.  We have seen from recent history that the DEMS, who control our state GA, will NOT make these hard choices.

Any Democrat governor is not going to have the will to go against these entrenched DEMs in the GA, of his/her own party.

We must have a proven, fiscally prudent Republican governor to REFUSE to go along with the stonewalling of the DEMs.  (Unfortunately, Rell did not have that power, and has been a RINO in many respects.)

I have a better option for nutmeggers who want *fiscal sanity* brought back to Hartford.  Recently at the RTC meeting in Trumbull, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, who is running for the Republican nomination, spoke about his campaign for governor. I was very favorably impressed by him!

He is a very common sense man who presents very clearly not only the financial realities our state faces, but what he has helped Danbury accomplish as its mayor.

I found him to be totally refreshing, candid, even humble in his recognition that he is there to serve the citizens!  A small example is that all city employees answer their phones, now, with “Thank you for calling the city of Danbury!  How can I help you?”

Mayor Boughton also explained very clearly the obstacles that CT has placed in front of businesses and corporations considering locating in our state, and what needs to be done to grow our economy and reduce the size of government in our state.

Here is one of several recent videos of him, talking about his background, and answering questions at a recent candidate forum in Canton:
