Occhiogrosso Rejoins Global Strategy Group

Roy Occhiogrosso, the governor’s former top communications adviser, will return to his old position as managing director of Global Strategy Group on Jan. 14.
“We are delighted that Roy is rejoining GSG,” Jon Silvan, Global Strategy Group CEO, said. “His deep expertise in private and not-for-profit sector communications, combined with his vast experience in government and politics makes him an incredible asset to our team and to our clients.”
Occhiogrosso joins Tanya Meck, senior vice president and managing director of communications, who took over his responsibilities in 2010 when he left to join Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s administration.
“We think Roy and Tanya will make a top-notch team,” Silvan said.
“I look forward to continuing to build GSG’s strong presence in Connecticut, and to extending the firm’s unrivaled combination of critical thinking and on-the-ground results that it provides for clients,” Occhiogrosso said. “I am excited to return to such an outstanding team.”
Prior to joining Malloy’s administration, Occhiogrosso was a partner with GSG from 2003 to 2010, where he helped grow the firm’s practice areas in public affairs, strategic communications, media relations, political strategy and public policy for a broad array of political, corporate and advocacy clients.
Since he worked in state government, Occhiogrosso won’t be able to directly lobby the Malloy administration or state agencies in his new capacity.
In 2010, Occhiogrosso managed Malloy’s campaign for governor through Global, which has done work for several other Democratic candidates.
The move has caused some to question whether Malloy is positioning himself for a 2014 re-election campaign, but no formal re-election announcement has been made.

GSG? The same place where one of the governors kids had an “intership”?
Says it all about Malloy,transparency,shared sacrifice,unemployment (for the great unwashed masses),and most of all—honesty and integrity in government.
What do summer interns make at GSG??
