‘The Butt Ugly Building’ May Come Down

Doug Hardy photo The City of Hartford has provided the owner of the H.B. Davis Building - aka The Butt Ugly Building - with a deadline to avoid eminent domain proceedings. If the deadline passes without a signature, city officials say they plan to take ownership and raze the structure, which is visible from both I-84 and I-91.

“This is a critically important project,” Mayor Pedro Segarra said. “This is an economic development priority for a number of reasons. This is prime real estate that connects our Downtown with our neighborhoods.”
