Voters In 21 Communities Head To The Polls

Democrats and Republicans in 21 cities and towns across Connecticut will participate in municipal primaries Tuesday, Sept. 13.
The polls will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Brookfield, Cromwell, East Hartford, Farmington, Guilford, Hartford, Lebanon, Lisbon, Killingworth, Middlebury, Middletown, New Britain, New Haven, New London, North Stonington, Norwalk, Oxford, Scotland, Stratford, Trumbull and West Haven.
Bridgeport’s primary was moved by a Superior Court judge to Sept. 27.
Secretary of the State Denise Merrill urged Republicans and Democrats to get to the polls to vote. Unaffiliated voters will not be allowed to vote in the primaries unless they changed their party affiliation before noon today.
Merrill and the state Elections Enforcement Commission also announced that the state will activate the election hotline for voters to report problems at the polls.

In addition, the two agencies are providing an email alert contact: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for voters to use if they encounter any difficulties casting ballots on Primary Day. Both the hotline and the email alert will be checked throughout the day by staff from both agencies.
“We are not expecting any problems tomorrow but just in case we will be prepared to deal with anything that comes up,” Merrill said. “Voters can not only call us but contact us through email either from home or by using a mobile device should anything arise. Through our combined efforts and resources, my office and the state Elections Enforcement Commission should be able to respond to any situation as quickly as possible.”
