One for Clinton

It should come as no surprise to political insiders that John Olsen, a superdelegate to the Democratic National Convention in August, announced Thursday afternoon that he will be supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton.

At a press conference in Speaker of the House James Amann’s office, Olsen said he had a strong feeling about Clinton following her victory in the Pennsylvania primary.

Clinton showed me she has the ability to “stand up and do battle,” he said.

Olsen said he knows some people are annoyed that the superdelegates will be playing such a big role in the Democratic nomination, but was unapologetic about it. “The rules are the rules,” he said.

Olsen is the second superdelegate to announce his support for Sen. Hillary Clinton. The first was Ellen Camhi of Stamford. Seven other superdelegates have pledged their support to Sen. Barack Obama, while two, Democratic State Party Chair Nancy DiNardo and Congressman Joe Courtney, have yet to announce their support for either of the candidates.

Olsen has been a DNC member since 1996, is president of the AFL-CIO and former Democratic State Party Chair. Click here to read our previous report about Olsen’s deliberations.

wonderful, another 4 years with bill clinton, the perjurer, in the white house. another 4 years of divisive politics and all out war with the republicans. can't wait.

i wouldn't count obama out just yet. he's still ahead, and it's time for a change...

I agree with tj...the counrty is to screwed up by bushy baby that we need Hillary in there. Obamba is a smart man but way to wet behind the ears.

The country was pretty well screwed up before Bush got in as well. Hillary is more of the same, and her husband - prosperity of the country aside - is a liar. A liar is a liar. He's no better than the Bush cabal.

It takes a leap of faith to trust a candidate nowadays, particularly when they're playing the agent of change. I've taken the leap because I don't want another 4 years of the Clintons, and despite what the Clinton campaign is saying about who has the "best chance to beat the Republicans," the numbers don't lie. Turnout is twice as big at Obama events. To me, attendance figures are a stronger indicator than any telephone poll. I think he's got a better chance to win.

And, he's the tallest candidate. In a general election, the tallest candidate wins all the time... ;-)
