The same day the Hillary Clinton campaign aired its first campaign ad in the state, more than a dozen legislators gathered at the state Capitol in Hartford to announce their support for her number one competitor, Barack Obama.

Rep. William Tong of Stamford said Wednesday that 50 members of the General Assembly will support Mr. Obama in his race for the oval office.

Ned Lamont, who failed to unseat U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman in 2006, said “I have a thing for underdog campaigns and this time we’re going to win.” Mr. Lamont said Mr. Obama has the “tone and the temperament” to be a great leader and seems to have an uncanny ability to bring people together.

“By bringing more people to the table he’ll be able to govern,” Lamont said. He said Obama would also give America the fresh start it needs to rebuild its relationships around the world.
