Whalley Avenue is one of the state’s dropping-off point of choice for ex-offenders released from jail — sparking calls for change from neighbors seeking to improve a struggling area.

The state has chosen a spot outside the New Haven Correctional Facility, otherwise known as the Whalley Avenue Jail, as one of several statewide for regular drop-off runs when releasing prisoners from jail, including prisoners from upstate. Neighbors at Tuesday night’s monthly WEB (Whalley, Edgewood, Beaver Hill) management team meeting Tuesday night pressed officials for a new policy.

No one is ever satisfied with anything in life. Golley!! Can a prisoner who served their time and paid their debt to society get a break? Or how about we look at it from a realistic stanspoint... how about you don't buy a house that is even remotely close to a jail (that's like DUH!) People that don't like kids also shouldn't move near a school. It's all common sense. You people are unreasonable in your requests. How about we ship them all to a planet.. we can call it convict planet.. and when they are released they can get sent to the "released convict" planet... that way they don't have to be near any of the "normal" law abidding citizens of the world. Funny thing.. I swear the U.S.A is the only country where everything possible in life bothers at least someone at some point. United States.. yeah right.. what a joke!!
