Gov. M. Jodi Rell held a press conference at a rest area and weigh station off Interstate 91 in Middletown on Friday to emphasize the importance of the highway safety proposals she made in her 2009 budget address earlier this week.
Rell’s proposal includes hiring an additional 100 state troopers over the next five years to patrol the highways, 10 new commercial vehicle inspectors to help staff the state’s 6 weigh stations, and a pilot program to install a speed camera on I-95 in Lyme.
“Speeding is only part of the problem,” Rell said in a press release. “Unsafe lane changes, tailgating and traveling in the breakdown lane and, of course, driving drunk are all unacceptable.”

More truck inspectors is a good things IMO. Her emphasis on traffic control, to me, is double speak for, "I need a new way to generate revenue under the guise of safety". Speed cameras have been shown to be a waste of time and money. She can read all about it on the internets and save taxpayers a fist full of cash.
