Rell Promotes the “Staycation”

As gas prices continue soaring, Gov. M. Jodi Rell visited Manchester’s Wickham Park to encourage residents not to give up their summer vacation, but instead to spend it here in Connecticut on a “Staycation.”

Rell said she’s already got her list of places she will be visiting this summer as part of the state’s “Staycation” tourism promotion. She said she will take advantage of the Goodspeed Opera House’s ticket discount to see “Half a Sixpence,” and will visit the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, which has a buy-one-get-one-free offer.

Those locations are just two of more than 300 venues throughout the state that will offer some sort of incentive or discount to Connecticut residents through Labor Day as part of the “Staycation” promotion. To see a full list of participating venues and destinations, visit www.ctvisit.com.

Wait. Wasn't she just out of state on her own vacation with family?

Gov. Rell has a 65 percent approval rating for being on permanent vacation. How can I get in on that gig?

And yes, Genghis, she did in fact just leave the state on a vacation. The forces of hypocrisy never take a break.

Thanks for this info. I didn't realize there were discounts involved in this "staycation" thing.

Why not lower the state parks fee?
