Well shat did I say!! I wish that I was wrong. Jodie Jodie Jodie. The very people who need our help the most, and private charities do not have the funds people, are the ones being hurt. Why not cut things like oh, the position you gave to Rob Simmons???? Why not raise corporate taxes, they should chip in they have had their taxes cut 50% over the last 15 years. Don't believe me folks look it up in the library. Corporate taxes have been reduced 50% over the last 15-20 years. They are the ones that scream for tax cuts because they "help the economy" Well corporations don't after the tax cut period they move. It's the small businesses that contribute the most folks. So who PAYS for those "tax cuts"??? We do!!!
They should not be called tax cuts they should be call "TAX SHIFTS".
I don't know about the rest of CT. But I am tired of companies coming in with promises of jobs and better economic conditions and then leaving when they have to start to "pay" taxes. Its ridiculous. Case in point "Walmart". How many employees are on state health care, well not many now after these cuts.
Why don't we cut some things like the "Governor's private car." Can't she drive herself??? We all have to supply our own transportation to and from work why not the governor?
Security??? Can't they drive her car as well as a state car????
What about a 10% cut in wages of the Governor's office. Maybe if the pain would begin with the top, the rest of us would be willing to pull our belts in.

Everyone knows NONE of this is going to happen.
Rells Budget proposal did exactly what it was suppose to.All the wingnut Republicans are back in line for Rells reelection campaign and telling us how Grandma Rell has seen the light and is back to true Republican Principals(whatever the hell that means). She has them spewing their hatred of Government spending out of one side of their mouths while feeeding themselves out of the other on their government paychecks .
Rell may well be the only person stil selling BUSHONOMICS.
I have to hand it to Lisa Moody,She knows the idiots she must control in order to remain in power very very well.

I don't get it. How can the education budget plan to cut so many jobs. Or does it? It seems to indicate there is going to be over a thousand slashed, or is that some weird budget chicanery?

The entire budget for the Office of the State Healthcare Advocate comes from the insurance fund (i.e., insurance companies), not the taxpayers. And the entire budget for the Office of Consumer Counsel comes from utilities, not the taxpayers. Cutting those offices doesn't save the state a dime.

Jennifer,
I just wanted to point out that I interviewed Kevin Lembo yesterday and included all that info in this story:

Governor Rell is charming and strong and loving and wise.
She's Connecticut's own Auntie M., ready to hug us when our nightmare is finally over.
Hold on . . . Where am I . . . I think I'm waking up now . . . What's this . . .
Oh, Auntie M.! Put down that ax! No! Aunti-
