Rell Not Ready to Join Catholics and Reject Plan B Bill

Gov. M. Jodi Rell said Wednesday afternoon that having a third-party come into a Catholic hospital to administer the emergency contraception, Plan B, to rape victims should not be a problem for the church. She said she believes in the compromise, which fell apart Monday when the church pulled out of the ongoing discussions. Rell said she hoped a compromise could be reached, but she would have a hard time rejecting the legislation in its current form. She said she has not seen all the amendments to the bill and reserves the right to reject the bill later should any amendments change the way it currently looks.

The Senate is expected to take up the legislation later this afternoon
