Rell Says No Again To Gay Marriage

Gov. M. Jodi Rell said Tuesday that she believes “marriage is between a man and a woman” and while she supported civil unions she was not willing to go one step further and support same-sex marriage.

The Quinnipiac University Poll Institute found 39 percent of Connecticut voters said it should be allowed, 33 percent approve of civil unions and 22 percent said there should be no recognition of same-sex marriage. “The older people are the more opposed they are to same-sex marriage,” Poll Director Doug Schwartz has said. The poll was taken in February.
