Space Shuttle Endeavour departed the Kennedy Space Center yesterday on its final journey to the California Science Center. CTTechJunkie’s Jay Patterson watched the departure from the roof of NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building.

Endeavour will be stored in a United Airlines hangar at LAX International Airport for a few weeks. It will then be transported by ground from the airport to the museum on October 13. Endeavour will be towed with much fanfare through the streets of Los Angeles on a 12 mile parade route. Due to the orbiter’s wingspan a number of trees, traffic signals, and signs will need to be removed ahead of the journey. Museum officials say that for every tree taken down two will be planted once the festivities are over.
