Somehow, despite the fact that there were over 200,000 more votes cast in the 2018 race for governor as there were in 2014, the geography of Ned Lamont’s narrow win was very much the same as Dan Malloy’s second victory over Tom Foley.

In Connecticut, One Party Benefits More From Outside Spending

HARTFORD, CT — Republicans have scored big when it comes to outside political spending on Connecticut’s election this year. According to two watchdog groups, an estimated 80 percent of the roughly $6 million spent so far by outside super PACs is going to Republicans.

Eva Bermudez Zimmerman, an activist and organizer running her first statewide campaign, should never have been able to give longtime Democratic powerhouse Susan Bysiewicz a run for her money. But she managed to win 40 percent of delegates at the convention despite having jumped into the race only days earlier, and in this week’s primary she grabbed about the same percentage (38 percent) of the vote.

Two maps of the turnout percentage by town for both Democrats and Republicans. Statewide turnout was 28.71% for Democrats, and 31.72% for Republicans.
