The Economic Observer covers infrastructure with a comparison between the U.S. and China and says the U.S. is spending less than ever on maintaining its infrastructure. The advocacy group Transportation for America recently produced an online map of bridges and their various stages of repair or disrepair. Check out the condition of the bridges on your daily commute here.

If you’d like to report a local bridge in disrepair, try using SeeClickFix.com. Many municipalities are watching for reports on the site, but if it’s a state road it’s good to report problems directly to the state Department of Transportation here.

This podcast of The Breakdown was recorded May 31 at OntheHorn.com’s studio in Glastonbury with special guests Jim Starr of Achieve Hartford and Irwin Krieger, a therapist specializing in evaluation and psychotherapy for GLBT individuals, couples, and families.

Jim Starr is on to talk about Achieve Hartford, a not for profit organization dedicated to improving Hartford schools and making them more accountable with an eye toward bridging the gap of understanding between funding and results. Here’s a Hartford Business Journal Q&A with Starr.

And, since there has been so much discussion of transgender issues at the Capitol in recent weeks, In the second half of the show Therapist Irwin Krieger is on at the request of The Breakdown crew to discuss the experience of changing your gender.
